Gogo Dam –Hydrographic/bathmetric Survey

Gogo Dam –Hydrographic/bathmetric Survey

Project Background

Gogo Dam, located along River Kuja in Migori County, plays a critical role in hydroelectric power generation and water resource management in the region. As part of expansion, rehabilitation, and infrastructure planning initiatives, accurate mapping and updated geospatial data were required to support design, environmental assessment, and safety planning.

Gledaki Services Limited was engaged to provide high-precision aerial mapping and topographical survey services for the dam and surrounding catchment area.

Scope of Work

Our team conducted a detailed aerial mapping exercise covering the Gogo Dam, reservoir basin, surrounding infrastructure, and buffer zones. The scope of work included:

  • Drone-based aerial data acquisition

  • High-resolution orthophoto generation

  • Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM) creation

  • Contour mapping and volumetric analysis

  • Feature extraction for hydrological and structural planning

Tools and Techniques Used

  • UAVs with RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) for survey-grade accuracy

  • Ground Control Points (GCPs) and GNSS equipment for georeferencing

  • Pix4D and Agisoft Metashape for post-processing and 3D modeling

  • GIS integration for environmental and hydrological analysis

Outcome and Benefits

The project delivered accurate, actionable mapping data that supported the client’s planning for:

  • Dam expansion and structural upgrades

  • Environmental and safety impact assessments

  • Water flow and flood risk modeling

  • Community resettlement planning (if applicable)

  • Infrastructure layout and utility corridor planning

Gledaki Services Limited once again demonstrated its capability to deliver high-quality geospatial solutions for critical national infrastructure. Our work at Gogo Dam reflects our commitment to precision, reliability, and technological excellence in survey services.
